Dennis O’Grady Limited was started in the back room of one of the ‘locals’. After acquiring another local accountant’s business in the late 80s and a brief change of office we moved into 7 Oates Street, Stokes Valley in the early 90s. Since that time we have continued to grow steadily through good reputation and specialising in Property Investing and Trust Services.

Owner, founder and the ‘grey matter’ of Dennis O’Grady Limited...

As an accountant Dennis often has great insights and is slowly taking his hands off the tools and focusing more on supporting the clients with a wealth of experience across a wide variety of industry sectors. With a genuine understanding of what it takes to build a successful business, Dennis’s razor sharp wit and dry sense of humour make him a pleasure to work with. His extensive experience also ensures the advice and recommendations he provides are both accurate and relevant.

Since establishing his company in 1994, Dennis has grown the business to a small team including highly competent accounting professionals.

One of Dennis’s main personal interests involves property investment. From early beginnings in 1976 with the purchase of his first property, he has grown his portfolio substantially.

Dennis is a popular figure in the local community and has also been an active member of Rotary for over 30 years.

A strong advocate of a healthy work/life balance, Dennis’s passions outside his business lie in two areas only, and when asked, he simply remarks; “fast cars and good friends!”


Not Dennis and Shawn’s ‘PA’...

After working in an administration and support role for over 20 years Denise joined Dennis O’Grady Limited in 2010. After a short period as the receptionist she soon proved her value as a tax specialist.

Now with over a decade of experience Denise specialises in looking after our sole traders and small business. With the number of clients and the deadlines for the year Denise seldom has face to face meetings. She is occasionally tasked to assist Dennis and Shawn with work on some of the larger jobs, but wishes to point out that she is not their personal assistant.


The next generation, set to look after the family business well into the future...

While away in Australia “getting his wings” and training up as an accountant Shawn came to his senses, leaving a promising position in a large firm and returning home to the office he grew up in.

Now specialising in business optimisation and advice, Shawn is always keen to work things for the best overall outcome. A Xero Certified Advisor for over ten years, he enjoys working with clients to ensure Xero works as smooth as possible, so will often be involved in the setup and training.

Shawn has also taken a keen interest in Trust law, initially learning from Dennis and then diving deep in the knowledge of the Trust Act 2019. He is now experienced in setting up the right business structures to protect the client’s assets and ensure compliance, while being as tax effective as possible.

Unlike Dennis with his passion for fast cars, Shawn prefers the tranquility of the outdoors. While he has stepped down from volunteering himself he supports children who have now taken over leader roles and sit on national committees for Scouts.

Thanks to Dennis’s work/life balance Shawn often finds himself working some odd hours, not all of which are spent in the office.
